Beverly J Williams

I am an artist who creates abstract and representational works that are inspired by nature, and the exploration of its beauty. My multimedia practice consists of woodworking, metal sculpting, painting, drawing, resin, laser engraving, printmaking, engraving, sculptures, and intarsia.

My artworks have purposefulness and mystery. They become a map of the experiences and the physical movements that have gone into its making; tension in configurations and shapes, a lyric quality in a line, independence of art from the physical object in the world around us.

My work has a story. One can see the investigations of the unique and special properties of the materials, how they are laid down, taken off, organized using art lineage, symbolism and composition. The process of this art form, which includes the colors, the tints, the tones, the mark making, the washes, the time involved to complete a work of art, the materiality of medium and its effect on achieving a work of art that holds one in place.
